The D. L. Clark Building
The David L. Clark Company was founded in 1886 when David Clark, an Irish immigrant, began manufacturing candy in two back rooms of a small house on the North Side. When Clark began selling his candy on the streets of Pittsburgh, the prospect of becoming a giant in the confectionery industry was far from his thoughts. However, he became a leading candy manufacturer and the Clark Bar emerged as one of the nation's favorite candy bars.

Business grew steadily, and eventually Clark moved his company into a large, 6-story brick factory building located in Pittsburgh’s North Side. The company expanded and prospered at that famous location for 75 years.

The D.L. Clark Building began a new life in 1989 when it was reopened with offices and the introduction of the Clark Bar & Grill which quickly became a Pittsburgh institution.
